accessory dwelling located behind an existing craftsman house in the madison heights neighborhood of pasadena. the brief was to provide a clean open living space for the owner to complement the modestly scaled front house. Our goal was to update the idea of what a craftsman structure would be in 2020 and respect the historic front structure by not introducing conjectural detail elements. a particular inspiration were the scuptural 1980’s infill structures built in pasadena’s historic neighborhood by many noted local architects.
