design for an unrealized project in the high desert. located in a area of rolling hills the concept was to maximize privacy and views by locating the house in a ridge with views opening up down the narrow valley. the house is oriented around a courtyard with the closed end facing west where the prevailing wind comes from. the entry sequence begins with a carport at roof level and then descends to the house below with the space continuing as a tree-lined court beyond the house.
