design for a new residential compound consisting of a main house, accessory dwelling and connecting courtyard. this project was located on a flat parcel on relatively densely developed area of joshua tree near the national park entrance so a more urban vocabulary of courtyard walls and thickly developed exteriors was developed with more overt references to vernacular desert architecture. rooftop decks are utilized to enjoy the views with privacy. the project was developed through building permit.
